The Student Health Center Pharmacy stocks a variety of smoking cessation products, including prescription medications and over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapy products such as nicotine patches and gum.
Most insurance plans cover prescribed smoking cessation products and other preventive options. Check with your provider for plan specific details.
Students can make an appointment at the Student Health Center to see a primary care provider for any questions regarding their medical options for tobacco cessation.
The Center for Health Education and Wellness and Be Well offer smoking cessation classes at no cost to students, faculty, and staff. This series of four, interactive, hour-long sessions is designed for groups of individuals interested in quitting tobacco use. Led by trained facilitators, the class provides strategies and resources that have been proven as effective approaches for quitting. The class helps participants reflect on and understand their own experiences with tobacco so they can tailor their quit attempt to what works best for them.
The Center for Health Education and Wellness and Be Well hosts cessation events to encourage smoking cessation, share resources, and offer support and encouragement.
Human Lungs Digital 5K
For the month of October the Human Lungs digital 5k/1 Mile run will be happening on campus in order to promote lung health. A digital race means that you complete the run on your own time, by yourself or with a group. You can register on the official race page to receive a medal and race bib; the proceeds going towards Go2 Foundation for Lung Cancer. You can also complete the run without officially registering and tag @volshelpvols in your social media post with the #running4mylungs to celebrate your completion of the race and enter into a raffle.
The following are two route options if you choose to complete this challenge on campus by yourself.

On Wednesday, October 9th at 11:30am, Be Well will be hosting a 1 mile walk for UT employees interested in participating in the event. We will be utilizing the Torchbearer Route and meeting at Circle Park to start the walk together. Our rain location will be inside of the Student Union in front of the credit union. Stay connected with Be Well on Facebook for event updates. A limited number of giveaways will be available!

The Tennessee Tobacco QuitLine at 1-800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669) is a free resource for all Tennessee residents to connect with a quit coach to serve as a guide through the process. Online support is also available.
Become an Ex is a free resource as a result of a collaboration between the Mayo Clinic and the Truth Initiative. It has support for planning and executing a quit attempt.
SmokeFreeTXT is a free text messaging resource that offers 24/7 encouragement and advice.
