In place of Employee Field Day, Be Well is encouraging UTK families to get outdoors on Saturday, June 13th to celebrate Family Health & Fitness Day. This annual event is promoted by the National Recreation & Park Association to acknowledge the importance of parks and recreations in keeping communities healthy.
East Tennessee has an abundance of local and national park areas that offer a variety of ways to be active outdoors. Whether you want to drive fifteen minutes or an hour, you can be hiking, biking, swimming, paddle boarding, etc. in no time.
Below you will find resources to help you plan a fun family outing, including some activities that the whole family can enjoy:
- Outdoor Knoxville
- Visit Knoxville
- Ijams Nature Center
- Great Smoky Mountain National Park
- AllTrails App (Download to your phone for trails near you)
- Go out for a family walk, hike, bike, etc.
- Head to the park for a family picnic
- Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
- State symbol guide (How many can you find?)
- Sidewalk chalk art contest
